March 16, 1924 - June 30, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Frank G. Swanda died on June 30, 2013. He was born March 16, 1924, in Oklahoma City to Frank and Agnes Swanda. He attended Central High School before joining the Army. After serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the European Theater, 1943-1946, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Frank was married to Dorothy Wills on July 9, 1947. He started his career as a sheet metal contractor at Swanda Brothers Roofing and Sheet Metal. Later, he was co-owner of Meridian Sheet Metal, Inc. Frank was a faithful and active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was a devoted member of the Clyde Harrison Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, an avid gardener, and a tennis player. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Brown; and his wife, Dorothy. He is survived by a son, John, of San Francisco; David and Susan Swanda, of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Susie Reynolds, of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Sarah Reynolds, Kate Luber and her husband Bryan, and Jack Swanda; and great-granddaughter, Heidi. Private family graveside services will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery, followed by a memorial service and celebration of Frank's life at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 222 N.W. 15, 10 a.m. on July 3. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church Foundation fund.
