To the Payne family, I am so sorry to learn the loss of Gary, my cousin. My memories of him are bright and fresh as if it were yesterday that we knew each other. Thinking of you and your family and knowing how proud you must be of the life he led. Gary made a difference and left a brilliant legacy behind, one I am sure the good Lord must be so pleased with. God bless you and your family.

I am sorry to hear that Judge Payne has passed on. I am sorry for his family and friends and will pray for you all. We will miss him a lot. His obituary and these Guest Book entries all serve as witness of his love of God and his love to Serve God as his Master here in life. I feel that now in Heaven he is still serving, doing what he has practiced during his life. I too was one of the users of his slides. They were a big help in preparation of my Sunday school lesson.

Kennith Mowery died unexpectedly in Sept. 16, 2012, and my mom died in Idabel, OK on Aug. 16, 2013. I empathize with you in your loss. There are no words adequate to describe my compassion for your family. Please be aware that many Christians will be praying for you in the months to come.

I did not know Mr. Payne personally, though I feel like I did. I truly enjoyed his Sunday School lessons weekly that I shared with my adult Sunday School class here in Westville, FL. While I know there is sadness in his passing I truly have great joy for him because I know he was welcomed with open arms into heaven and I as another poster said earlier I am sure he was welcomed with the words, "Well done my faithful servant."

What a wonderful man! I saw him at Sam's Monday nite when he hollered me down across the parking lot. We laughed and talked, standing in the door to Sam's for 20 minutes. When I finally resumed my shopping, I had a smile on my face and felt better---lighter and brighter---than before I saw Gary----typical of every encounter I ever had with him. What a delight. What a gift. The world needs more Gary's!! Wow, you were so loved and will be so missed, dear friend.

Gary was a friend and colleague who mentored the quest for honor, faith, trust, truth, fairness and reality all bundled in an engaging sense of humor and fun loving spirited personality. Gary found ways to respect us all while gently nudging us on to a path leading to pride. That feeling of pride in one's self was his purposeful gift. His selfless giving and teaching lifted us above the doubts and frustrations caused by our ignorance, lack of reasoning or lost logic. Sharing and giving of his knowledge, his logic and his love is the foundation of sustainable pride if we continue to follow his lead and his quest. Indeed, God has blessed us with his loyal servant.

My deepest sympathy to his family. I pray that Gary's courage an strength are yours.

It is so hard to let go those we love, but we rejoice that Gary is now face-to-face with the God he served so well. Gary shared his love of Christ with all who came near and savored his Bible study and his opportunities to teach. He lovingly took care of his mom and kept me posted on her well-being, as well as on his precious family. I will miss my cousin, my friend, dearly. I pray for peace and comfort for Suzie, Robert, Clay, Josh and Aunt Jeanne. Gary may be gone from this earth, but he remains always in our memories.
