WM LYNCH Obituary
June 10, 1925 - April 18, 2014 NORMAN W. M., 88, was called to his heavenly home on April 18, 2014. Born June 10, 1925, in Denison, TX, he spent his life in ministry through the Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army infantry in Europe during WWII, landing at Normandy. He received an M.A. from Stephen F. Austin University, did further graduate study at Baylor University, and received the honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. He pastored Nazarene churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois and served as superintendent of the Mississippi and Dallas Districts for an additional 27 years. A Purple Heart and Bronze Star veteran, in 2013, he received the Medal of Knight in the French Order of the Legion of Honor, France's highest honor, for his aid in the liberation of France. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Carolyn Sue; two brothers and one sister; he is survived by his daughters, Gay & her husband Larry Leonard and Rosalynn Wade; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one sister. Viewing will be 12-8 p.m. Sunday at Vondel Smith S. Western with the family present at 1-3 p.m. Services are 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 7301 S. Walker Avenue, with burial at the Bethany Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lynch Missions Scholarship Memorial Fund established at Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
