Nov 3, 1932 - June 8, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Stewart Hazlewood, 81, retired president of Hazlewood Oil & Gas Co., Inc., passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, June 8, 2014, in Oklahoma City. He was born in Chilton, TX November 3, 1932, to Jones A. and Irene (Gum) Hazlewood. Stewart entered the United States Navy to serve his country in 1952. After his tour of duty ended in 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Neville, on November 26, 1954. After their wedding, they moved to Lafayette, LA, where he attended college at the Southwestern Louisiana Institute and graduated on May 24, 1959, with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. Stewart worked in the oil field his entire career, which gave him and his family the opportunities to live in many different states before they settled in Oklahoma City in 1970. He enjoyed yard work, watching football and especially spending time with his family. Stewart is survived by two sons, Kyle Hazlewood, of OKC; and Scott Hazlewood and wife Shirley, of Newcastle, OK; one daughter, Kara Kordic and husband Tom, of Moore, OK; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Neville Hazlewood; his parents, three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
