Hiram C. Taylor, 92, was born August 24, 1920 to
Gertie and Jack Taylor in Taylortown.
He entered into Heaven on Sunday,
August 4, 2013.
He started in banking in 1939 at the
Green River Deposit Bank (Rochester,
Kentucky) and after U.S. Army
(1942 -1945) worked at the Beaver
Dam Deposit Bank in Ohio County.
He came to Oldham County in 1957
as the president of Crestwood State
Bank until his retirement in 1984. Hiram continued
to serve on the Board of Directors as Chairman until
1994. He served on many community boards, including
the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce,
Oldham County Country Club, South Oldham Fire
Department and South Oldham Lions Club. He was
named Oldham Countian of the Year in 1967. He
was known for his quick wit, an avid quail hunter, a
wanna be golfer, mediocre handicapper, and a dang
good card player. He was a devoted member of the
Crestwood United Methodist Church, serving in
many capacities through the years, including Sunday
School teacher, choir member, and Trustee.
Hiram is survived by his loving wife of 65 years,
Peggy E. Taylor of Crestwood. He is also survived
by his three children, Richard H. Stevens, Bill Taylor
( Joanne), Joan Bryant (David) all of Crestwood;
grandchildren, Rick Stevens, Greg Stevens
(Stephanie), Austin Stevens (Amira), Tracy Mathis
(Greg), Mandy Stevens, Chad Collins ( Joni), David
M. Bryant (Karen), Jon Bryant (Rebecca), Donna
Harrel, Abigail Tiller (C.J.); and 16 great-grandchildren
and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Services at were Wednesday, August 7 at
Crestwood United Methodist Church with burial to
follow in Harrods Creek Cemetery.
