Michael "Mike" Patrick Murphy, age 68 of Goshen, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13, 2014 surrounded by family and friends after his courageous battle with cancer. We would like to thank Dr. Renato LaRocca and his staff for helping Mike maintain a good quality of life these past three years. And our good friend Patsy Burge, a Hosparus nurse, for making Mike's transition as easy as possible.
He was born in Louisville, son of Raymond and Evelyn Dudley Murphy. He was a graduate of DeSales High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of M & K Interior Contractors Inc, and before retirement was active in several contracting organizations in Louisville. Since retiring, he spent winters in Florida and time traveling on family vacations with his grandchildren as often as possible. He was a founding member of the Southend Yacht Club spending many good times with it's members. He was a Catholic and member of the Church of the Epiphany.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie Mauck Murphy; daughters, Michelle Murphy (Akbar) and Kimberly Vogel (Donnie); sister, Mary Kay Hall (Jim); brother, Pat Murphy (Becky); and grandchildren, Caitlin, Amber and Harmonie Francesconi; Blake and Devlin Vogel; many nieces, nephews, friends, and his Black Lab, Murphy Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Ryan Vogel.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 9:30 Tuesday, at the Church of the Epiphany, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1 to 6p.m. Sunday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road "in St. Matthews".
