Harold "Jr." Dowell, 75, passed away Friday, July
12, 2013 at the Hosparus Care Center. Born in
Irvington, Ky. September 9, 1937 he is the son of the
late Harold & Martha Vangrift Dowell Sr.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, member of the
Grace Baptist Church in La Grange, the UAW
#862 and retired after 35 years with the Ford Motor
Company. Mr. Dowell was an avid NASCAR,NFL
and U of L fan but his family was his life, especially
his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Andy Dowell (Anna)
and Tony Dowell; 3 sisters, Louise Kelly, Nancy
Barnsfather (Curt), Patsy Wilson ( Jim); five brothers,
Lemor (Rosalie), Henry (Peggy), Bobby (Susie), Carl
(Debbie) and Donnie (Sydney); four grandchildren,
Alex, Alana, Nick, Natalie and one great grandchild,
Braylee. He was preceded in death by his life partner
of 25 years, Shirley Ford.
A service celebrating Jr.'s life was held Tuesday
July 16th at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral
