Junius Connell Latimer, age 93 of La Grange, KY
passed away on Friday, January 3rd at Baptist Health La
Grange Skilled Care Unit with his family
by his side. Born December 7, 1920 he
was a lifelong resident of Oldham County.
After graduating from LaGrange High
School he joined the Army and served
with the Signal Corps in Europe during
World War II. He then met and married
the love of his life, Shirley Allgeier.
He worked and retired from Clayton and
Lambert for 27 years. He was a member
of the American Legion Post 39 and was honored in 2009
for 50 years of service. In 1962 he was one of the first
coaches of the Oldham County Little League and won
two championships with his American Legion team. He
was an avid UK fan and followed every game of every
season.
Junie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley;
daughter Annalee Mayes; son, Dennis R. Latimer (Chris);
grandchildren, Chad Mayes, Courtney Fernandez (E.T.),
Meghan Mayes, Jenny Dombroski ( Justin) and Kayleigh
Latimer; great –grandchildren, Rylan, Shelby, Hudson,
Tarq and Jake Dennis. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Arrie Lee and Ollie Latimer, brothers Kenneth F.
(Toots) and John Owen; nephews, Kenny and Mark.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Baptist Health
LaGrange Skilled Care Unit for their excellent and loving
care. We will be eternally grateful.
Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church located at 502 North 5th Street La
Grange, KY on Wednesday January 8 at 11a.m. with
burial following in Valley of Rest Cemetery. Visitation was
Tuesday January 7th from 2-8p.m. at Oldham County
Funeral Home 706 W. Jefferson St. in LaGrange.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made
to Mass of the Air.
