Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Lillian Buickerood Griffin passed away in Centerfield following a brief illness.
Our wife and mother was born in New York City, the third child of five to her British-born mother. She attended Tottenville High School and graduated with honors. She worked at the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan and met her future husband, Howard Griffin, at a service club in 1946. They married in 1948, and settled in his hometown of Fayette, Alabama. Howard made the military a career while mom stayed home to raise the family. They lived in Japan for 2 years and Germany for 1 year, but spent the remainder of their married life in Kentucky. They settled in Valley Station where Lillian worked as a kindergarten teacher at Valley Station Baptist Church for 20 years and raised her children in the church. All of her children completed college, which greatly pleased her.
They moved to Oldham County in 1978. She was the longest standing volunteer at the NW Baptist Hospital at the time of her retirement 2 years ago. She was a member of the Crestwood Baptist Church for over 35 years, sang in the choir for many years and belonged to the Fidelis Sunday School Class and treasured their fellowship. She spent her life serving others – organizing the Women's Missionary Union and its activities for many years, visiting the sick, baking innumerable desserts and cooking countless meals for others.
She was always available to support her children and grandchildren. She quilted, sewed and knitted and preserved a lifetime of healthy food. She enjoyed boating and their cabin and rides in their antique cars and outings with the Falls City Model A Car Club. She was proud that she never got a traffic citation nor caused a wreck. She loved Women's Retreats and family vacations. She and Howard gave the family a Caribbean cruise for their 50th anniversary.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Howard; three children: Wayne (Debby), Gary (Stephanie Midkiff), and Lori (Robert) Byron; and three grandchildren: Rebecca (Keith) Bell, Robin Byron, Elizabeth Byron.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday May 30, and the funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday May 31 at Stoess' Funeral Home in Crestwood KY.
