Julie Wolf Obituary

OLEAN - Julie Ann Sue Wolf, of 2719 McCann Hollow Road, passed away Saturday (Aug. 6, 2016) at Olean General Hospital after a long illness, in the loving presence of her family.

Born Nov. 24, 1945, in Bradford, Pa., she was a daughter of John and Ann McCord Sue. On Feb. 8, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany she married Ronald F. Wolf, who survives.

Julie always enjoyed working to help others and she was first employed by the Head Start program in Coudersport, Pa., before moving back to Allegany in 1985. She was the executive director of the local branch of the American Cancer Society for about 12 years, until assuming the executive director position for Interfaith Caregivers. She worked there for an additional 12 years prior to her retirement.

She was active in numerous charitable and nonprofit organizations and served on the board of directors for the Genesis House and for the Senior Citizens Center, both in Olean.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Laurie (Mike) Losey of Olean, Stacey (Darrell) Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Terri (Wesley) Gilbert of Olean; five grandchildren, Ashlee (Adam) Forrest, AJ (Kelly) Losey, Adam Losey, and Sarah and Olivia Lang; two great-granddaughters, Addison and Grace Forrest, all of whom she loved dearly; a brother, David (Vicki) Sue of Shingletown, Calif.; three aunts, Annabelle Sue, Carolyn (Douglas) Warner and Marcia Karl, all of Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, John "Mac" Sue in 2011.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday (Aug. 11, 2016) at St. John's Lutheran Church, 36 N. 4th St., Allegany. Services will begin at 11 a.m. in the church. The Rev. Dan Buringrud, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Julie's son-in-law, the Rev. Wesley Gilbert. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 36 N. 4th St. Allegany, NY 14706; Rock of Revelation Church, 1009 Griffin St., Olean, NY 14760; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
