OLEAN - Lois I. Morasco, formerly of West Sullivan Street, passed away Saturday (April 26, 2014) at The Pines Healthcare and ReHabilitation Center in Olean.
Born on May 26, 1920, in Maumee, Ohio, she was the daughter of Frank Albert and Irene Risley Tubbs. In 1962, at the former Free Methodist Church in Olean, she married Russell Morasco, who predeceased her Feb. 18, 1975.
Mrs. Morasco moved to this area in 1953 from Cherry Creek. She had been a member of the Allegany Free Methodist Church, now Creekside Chapel. She was active in the church Missionary Society, as well as a volunteer in many other capacities with the church, including having taught Sunday school. She also volunteered with Interfaith Caregivers, The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Linwood Center and the Salvation Army.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Marie Smith of Molalla, Ore., and Wayne Wetmore of Asheville, N.C.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Tubbs and Marshall Tubbs; and a sister, Virginia Wetmore.
Friends will be received Thursday (May 1, 2014) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to noon, at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Adam Stein, pastor of Creekside Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
