OLEAN - Stephanie D. Ash, of 1517 River St., passed away Tuesday (April 23, 2013) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Ash was born April 28, 1923, in Olean, and was a daughter of Michael and Anna Bochnak Mazur. On Sept. 2, 1957, at St. Joseph's Church in Olean, she married her husband of almost 56 years, Joseph J. Ash, who survives.
Mrs. Ash worked at John Ash Cleaners. She was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph's Church and was very active in their Altar Society. Mrs. Ash worked the festival every year and loved to donate and give. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, charity work and dancing the polka. Mrs. Ash was a loyal wife and devoted mother who loved her grandchildren.
Along with her loving husband, Mrs. Ash is survived by two sons, Jerome A. (Lillian) Ash of Pittsford and John J. Ash of Spokane, Wash.; and a granddaughter, Emily Adele Ash.
Mrs. Ash was predeceased by a grandson, Jordan Ash, on March 25, 2008; three brothers, John, George and Michael Mazur; and two sisters, Veronica Mazur and Helen Dombowski.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. A service of incense will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be Monday (April 29, 2013), beginning with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and followed by a funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Parish at the Transfiguration Oratory. The Rev. Anthony J. Salim will be celebrant. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
