Ambroselli, Frances A.  
MOULTRIE, Ga. - Frances A. Ambroselli, of Moultrie, passed peacefully Sunday (June 19, 2016) at the Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Born on Dec. 3, 1938, in Paterson, N.J., Frances was a daughter of Alvin and Gertrude Snyder Hulme. She learned perseverance early, attending 27 grammar schools; graduating from Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, N.Y., with the Class of 1956; receiving a bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1986; and finally completing her master's degree from St. Bonaventure while teaching at Belmont (N.Y.) Central School, where she retired. During retirement, Frances restored the Woodworth Home, which became known as the Villa-Serendip Bed and Breakfast in Cohocton, N.Y. After 11 years of operation, the Victorian marvel was lost to a devastating fire. Not to be kept down, Frances persevered and found the Barber-Tucker Inn in Moultrie, where she was blessed with cherished friendships. Frances is survived by four children, Nicholas (Judy) Ambroselli of Kalamazoo, Mich., Paul (Valerie) Ambroselli of Olean, N.Y., Elayne (Jeff) Stone of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Charles Ambroselli of Woodstock, Ga. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her teenage sister, Trudy; and brother, Louise. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 E. State St., Olean. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (June 23, 2016) in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, 119 W. Henley St., Olean. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Tier Catholic School/Archbishop Walsh Academy, 208 N. 24th St., Olean, NY 14760, www.stcswalsh.org ; the Mount Irenaeus Retreat Center, P.O. Austin Jr., Claude L. - Bolivar  
BOLIVAR - Claude L. Austin Jr., of 161 Salt Rising Road, passed away Saturday (June 25, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a brief illness. Born Dec. 4, 1947, in Wellsville, he was the son of Claude L. and Mabel Margeson Austin Sr. On Aug. 23, 1967, in Edenton, N.C., he married Linda A. Geffers, who survives. Claude was a graduate of Wellsville High School and was employed at Acme Electric Co. in Cuba for 38 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and gardening. He also enjoyed camping at Sunny Hill campsite. He especially cherished his time with family. Surviving besides his wife are his dearly loved children, Jeffery (Melanie) Austin of Bolivar, Kenny (Kelli) Austin of Converse, Ind., Scott (Michelle) Austin of New Market, Md., and Stephen (Erin) Austin of Cuba; 11 beloved grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Lois Jean White and Mary Predmore. The family will received friends for a memorial visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday (June 28, 2016) at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., 554 South Main St. Bolivar. Bartlett, Dorothy A.  
OLEAN - Dorothy A. Bartlett, a former longtime resident of 1305 ½ W. State St., passed away Tuesday (June 21, 2016) at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Dorothy was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Shinglehouse, Pa. Her father was Raymond James, and her mother was Emma Puff Broeckel. She was formerly married to Arvis Bellamy, and together they had six children prior to their divorce. She resided in Olean most of her life and worked for several years for the former Olean Tile Co. She enjoyed roller-skating and painting pottery. She also liked to sing as well as listen to country music. Surviving are her six children, Bonnie (Dale Rathbun) Bellamy of Hinsdale, Barbara Eck of Wellsville, Arvis Bellamy of Hinsdale, Jeff Bellamy of Cuba, Ann (Scott) Pequeen of Oklahoma and Penny (Eric Wagner) Bellamy of Allegany; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Kathy) James of Hinsdale; one sister, Karen (David) Troutman of Portville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Ernest, Jerry and Raymond James; and two sisters, Cindy Williams and Shirley Richardson. No services are being scheduled at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Bergeron, Teresa M. "Terra"  
HUMPHREY - Teresa "Terra" M. Bergeron, of Humphrey Road, died Saturday (June 18, 2016), at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo following an automobile accident. Born July 21, 1981, in Olean, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary Weber Timme. Terra was a 1999 graduate of Ellicottville Central School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fla., and a Master's degree from Keller University in Orlando. She was currently employed by Fox Financial and Austin Security both of Olean. Terra was dedicated to her children and family, loved all animals especially, her goats. She also enjoyed crafts and baking. She was treasurer of the Humphrey Fire District, and a member of St. Pacificus and Holy Name of Mary's Catholic Churches. Surviving besides her parents of Humphrey, are two daughters at home, Brianna L. Bergeron, 4, and Carley B. Bergeron, 2; a brother, James (Heather) Weber of Humphrey; her paternal grandmother, Barbara Weber of Delevan; and three nieces. Friends may gather with the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday (June 24, 2016) in the Oratory of St. Pacificus Catholic Church on Chapel Hill, Humphrey. Celebrant will be the Rev. Ronald Mierzwa, pastor of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Ellicottville. Interment will be in St. Pacificus Cemetery. Carr, Rev. Kenneth E. - Belmont  
BELMONT - The Rev. Kenneth Edward Carr, of 5 Norton St., and a former resident of West Eaton, went to be with his Lord and savior Monday (June 20, 2016) subsequent to an operation that revealed an inoperable condition. He was born April 2, 1941, in Oneonta, a son of the late Kenneth and Jeannette Foster Carr. He married Edith Burch Utter on July 24, 1970; she predeceased him. He later married Anita Baird, who survives. Ken was a graduate of Hamilton High School, attended Bob Jones and Letourneau universities, and graduated from Liberty University. He founded the Tri-County Septic Service. During his lifetime, Ken was a pastor at Columbus Quarter Baptist Church; West Eaton Baptist Church; First Baptist Church in Oswegatchie; and Second Baptist Church in Bowdoinham, Maine. In addition, he was a North County Association Baptist Association moderator. Ken was a very active firefighter. He was lieutenant of the Hamilton Fire Department; and captain, assistant chief and first assistant chief in Georgetown. In 1987, he was awarded a plaque as the Georgetown Fireman of the Year. He was also an EMT, serving as Georgetown squad chief. He was a Georgetown town councilman for 12 years and water superintendent for four years. He was the author of a book, titled "Preparing for my Departure." Ken and Anita enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV. They also traveled to Puerto Rico three times, St John's in the Virgin Islands and Israel. While living in Belmont, Ken continued to preach occasionally, led Bible studies and was president of the Board of Stewards at Knight's Creek Evangelical Methodist Church in Scio. Surviving in addition to his wife are five stepchildren, Paula Utter of Haverhill, Mass., Robert Utter of Vernon, Chad (Amie) Boggs of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dr. Brenda (Jim) Krygowski of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Dr. Amy Boggs of Henrietta; four step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; his brother, James Carr of Akron, Ohio; and various nieces and nephews. Special mention should also be made of his ward, Ricardo Demetrio Casciano and family of McAllen, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday (June 25, 2016) at Knight's Creek Evangelical Methodist Church, 2987 County Road 9, Scio, NY 14880. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore. Cook, Frances  
OLEAN - Frances Cook, of Olean, passed away peacefully Tuesday (June 21, 2016) at Mercy Hospital after bravely facing a long illness. She was blessed to spend her last days enjoying her beloved family and passed on peacefully in the afterglow of their love. Born on April 8, 1939, in Westons Mills, she was a daughter of Julius and Oneda Coon Cook. She grew up in Richburg and was a 1957 graduate of Richburg Central School. Later that year, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served as a radar air controller her entire military career. Upon returning home, she spent more than 40 years as a technician at Olean Advanced Products, where she was a member and past treasurer of the IBEW Local 1690. She went on to earn her degree in electronics at Jamestown Community College. "Cookie" was a loyal friend to many and enjoyed the times they spent together traveling to Long Island for ocean fishing and New York Yankees games, wild card parties hosted at her home and weeks spent with them at "Lucy's cottage" on Cuba Lake. She was an avid Yankees fan and a great supporter of the SPCA in Cattaraugus County, where she found her best friend, Alex, her loving companion dog. She was a beloved sister, sister-in-law and aunt and will be greatly missed. Her nieces and nephews held a very special place in her heart, and she thoroughly enjoyed the times shared with them, including family reunions and the annual barbecues at her sister's home on Nile Road. Cookie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and William Nolder; her favorite sister-in-law, Donna Cook; three nephews, Steve (Marie) Cook, Larry Cook and Kirby (Joan) Cook; and four nieces, Candy (Ron) Rix, Peg (Chick) Cook, Rebecca (Steve) Teeples and Michelle (Aric) Rees. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Cook; a sister, Julia Cook; and an infant sister, Jackie Rae Dorrett. At her request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the SPCA in Cattaraugus County. Arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home Inc.

Gray, Mitchell R. "Mitch" - Great Valley  
GREAT VALLEY - Mitchell R. "Mitch" Gray, 67, of Hungry Hollow Road, Great Valley, died Friday afternoon (June 17, 2016) at Buffalo General Hospital following a long illness. Born on Sept. 26, 1948, in Salamanca, he was the son of the late Raymond Gray and Rosie Cone Koubel. Mr. Gray was married in 1982 in St. Patrick's Church to the former Christina Leahy, who survives. He was a graduate of Cornell University and was salutatorian of the Salamanca High School Class of 1966. Mitch had been employed for more than 25 years at FiberCel in Portville as general manager. He had been a manufacturing representative at Bush Industries in Little Valley. He also owned and operated a bait shop on Porter Hollow Road in Great Valley. He served as the Great Valley town justice for more than 10 years. Mitch was a member of Elkdale Country Club and Peth Wildlife Management. He bowled in area leagues, rolling a perfect 300; and as a golfer, he made a hole-in-one on a par 4. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and he inspired his son and nephews to follow their passion for wildlife management. He also enjoyed cooking and barbecuing. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Amber (Lee) Bryant of Thomasville, N.C.; a son, Cameron Gray of Great Valley; three sisters, Cindy (Lawrence) Washington of Connecticut, Jill Gray of Salamanca and Shelly (Mike) Atkins of Great Valley; and several nieces and nephews. Hammond, Jolie P. (Eaton) - Olean  
PENFIELD - Jolie P. Eaton Hammond lost her courageous, two-year battle with cancer Wednesday (June 22, 2016). Born on Feb. 6, 1970, in Olean, she was a daughter of Linda Eaton and Richard Peck and the late Michael J. Eaton. In her youth, Jolie was an avid equestrian, competing in numerous events at the local and county levels while qualifying to compete at the state level. She was a decorated basketball player, eventually playing at the college level. Jolie was a graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School and Nazareth College. Jolie married Thomas J. Hammond on Dec. 27, 2002. She was a proud mother of her sons, AJ (Austin John) and Griffin. Jolie was an incredible mother, always advocating for their special and unique needs. She passed on her love of horses to AJ and her independence and sense of style to Griffin. Jolie is survived by her loving husband, Tom; two sons, AJ and Griffin; her mother, Linda Eaton (Richard Peck) of Allegany; three sisters, Jen (Jason) Eaton-Miller, and her children, Caden and Mikayla, Jacquie Barber, and her child, Tyler, and Trisha (Tom) Moran, and her children, Madison and Tommy; and a very large extended Hammond family that she loved deeply. Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, Webster. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (June 27, 2016) at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Road at Plank Road, Webster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Cariola Children's Center or Stepping Stones Learning Center.

Hoy, Shirley A.  
HINSDALE - Shirley A. Hoy, a four-year resident of Underwood Manor, passed away Thursday (June 23, 2016) at the Olean General Hospital after a sudden illness. Born May 28, 1948, in Olean, she was a daughter of Herbert and Alice Williams Knapp. On May 20, 1969, she married Wilbert Hoy, who predeceased her Aug. 22, 2010. Shirley was a 1966 graduate of Olean High School. She worked at various stores in the Olean area, including the former W.T. Grant Co., the former Hi-Q Co. and the former D&K store. She was a loving wife and mom and a special "Grams" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters, Tracy Hoy of Wellsville, Rachel Crum of Olean and Catherine (Scott) Talbott of Kill Buck; 11 grandchildren Jamie, Alyia, Jonathon, Heather, Aaron, Cody, Sydney, Jerry, Daniel, Amanda and Dustin; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Al (Vie) Knapp of Rochester; a sister, Rose LaFrenz of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Roberta Emmons. The family will be present to receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday (June 30, 2016) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road. Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Clara Wilder, pastor of River's Edge United Methodist Church in Portville, will officiate. Ingalls, Kevin M. - Wellsville  
WELLSVILLE - Kevin M. Inglass, 45, of Bolivar Road, passed away on Tuesday (June 21, 2016) in Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born June 2, 1971, the son of Gary W. and Barbara Halsey Ingalls. He was a graduate of Wellsville High School, Class of 1990, and was an active member of the marching band. He was an avid musician and enjoyed playing drums in his band, know as "The Kraulers." He was known as a jokester and was always one to cheer for the Kansas City Chiefs. He had previously resided in Canandaigua and Palmyra, and for several years was a chef at Pizanos Restaurant. He is survived by his mother, Barbara of Wellsville; daughters, Adrianna and Payton Ingalls; sisters, Jody (Michael) Vannatter of North Bingham, Pa.; brother, Steve Ingalls of Canandaigua; grandmother, Susie Halsey of Wellsville; grandson, Kaiden Crow of Rochester; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Gary; grandparents, William and Hazel Ingalls and Francis 'Buck' Halsey. Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday (June 29, 2016) at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville. Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Kemp, of the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the family's convenience in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville.
