Abernethy, James C.  
ALLEGANY - James C. Abernethy, of 1815 Four Mile Road, passed away Friday (Jan. 16, 2015) in the Palliative Care Unit in Cuba Memorial Hospital. James was born April 5, 1934, in Houtzdale, Pa., and was a son of J. Robert and Fay J. Miller Abernethy. He was formerly married to Marlene Pearson. On Aug. 15, 1974, in Portville, James married his wife of 40 years, Charlotte Liwa, who survives. James graduated from Houtzdale Woodward Brisbon High School in 1952. He was a U.S. Navy reservist from 1962 to 1990. James worked as a self-employed truck driver before going to work for Potter Lumber Co., from which he retired in 1999. James enjoyed working, driving trucks and hunting in Pennsylvania. He truly enjoyed being outside. Along with his loving wife, James is survived by three children, Debora A. Lippa of Farmington, Sharon L. Moskel of Bergen and James A. (Giulia) Abernethy of Bergen; one stepson, David J. Minderler of Eden; three grandsons, Lukas Lippa and Steven and Matthew Minderler; three brothers, Robert (Peggy) Abernethy of State College, Pa., Charles Abernethy of York, Pa., and C. Glenn (Barbara) Abernethy of Smithtown, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Nancy LaFredo of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 24, 2015) for a memorial gathering in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Anasiewicz, Jerry - Chaffee  
CHAFFEE - Jerry Anasiewicz, formerly of Franklinville, died Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2015) at Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital, Springville. Born Dec. 3, 1932, in Poland, he was a son of Felix and Joanna Romanski Anasiewicz. On Feb. 23, 1957, in Buffalo, he married Ursula Zboinski, who died Feb. 25, 2000. Mr. Anasiewicz was a lifelong baker who was employed at Alcohen's Bakery and Burczynski's Bakery, both of Buffalo. He was a member of local 429 Bakers and Confectionery Union. Jerry loved to play bingo in his retirement. Surviving are four daughters, Diana (David) Biela of Franklinville, Christine Anasiewicz and Lydia (Michael) Milligan, both of Chaffee, and Eva (Russell) Lauber of Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Adam (Dorothy) Anasiewicz of Clarence; a sister, Irene Janiak of Kenmore; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 10 siblings. Friends may gather with the family from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2015) in St. Philomena's Roman Catholic Church, 26 Plymouth Ave., Franklinville. The celebrant will be the Rev. Robert Marino, pastor. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville. Memorials may be made to a disabled veterans' charity of the donor's choice.
