Garey, Ruth S.  
Ruth S. Garey, 69, passed away Feb. 9, 2015, at home in Minnesota, with her family by her side. Born in 1945 in Olean, she was a daughter of Alvin and Beatrice Garey. Ruth graduated from Olean High School. She lived in Olean until October 2014, when she became ill. She went to live with her family in Minnesota. Ruth worked at Olean General Hospital as a ward secretary for three years. She then went to work for the Olean City School District as a secretary for 13 years. For the past 21 years, she had been a piano teacher. Ruth served as an organist for the Christian Missionary Alliance Church for 29 years. She traveled with the Markel Team for two years. She is survived by her family, Karen Garey, Robert Garey Jr., Dan (Tammy Garey) Zimmerman and Chris (Kristen Garey) Ortwerth; six grandnieces and grandnephews; and a great-grandnephew. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Robert Garey Sr. Private services will be held.

Gattuso, Alice Loretta (Calhoun)  
DENVER - Alice Loretta Calhoun Gattuso, 93, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, in Denver, with her family by her side. Alice was born in Philadelphia and lived there until she married Ralph Gattuso on April 17, 1943. Together they made their home in Olean, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994 and moved to Denver in 2001. She enjoyed bowling, baking, crocheting, crossword puzzles, card games with the ladies and occasional trips to the casino (where she often won - for a while). She retired from the Olean Public Library in 1995 at age 74. She shared a long relationship with special friend Kay Anastasia of Olean. Alice was quick to laugh and enjoyed many friendships throughout her life. She is survived by four children, Ralph (Joan) Gattuso, Barbara Connelly, James (Maureen) Gattuso and Mary Gattuso; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, in Denver. Memorials may be made to the Olean Public Library or bluestarconnection.org.

Graham, Ethel M. - Angelica  
ANGELICA - Ethel M. Graham, 89, a four-year resident of Updykes Willow Ridge in Hornell, formerly of East Main Street in Angelica, passed away peacefully Thursda (Feb. 26, 2015). Born in Angelica, Aug. 29, 1925, the daughter of Carl Fay and Louise (Neetz) Palmer, she was a lifelong Angelica resident. She had worked for the former Kane's Grocery and Harris Grocery in Angelica for many years. Ethel was a member of the Angelica United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ and participated on many committees. She was also a member of the former Angelica Chapter No. 231 OES and a member of the Kanakadea McArthur Chapter No. 242 OES in Almond, holding many offices within the chapters. Ethel was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing them all. Many people were also recipients of her delicious baked goods, especially her cookies. She was predeceased by her husband, Leighton "Bush" Graham on Dec. 24, 2002, whom she married Jan. 22, 1945; her sister, Jessie Williams; and four brothers, Edwin, Raymond, Leonard and Lawrence Palmer. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Candice) Graham of Arkport and Leighton "Dip" (Carol) Graham of Denver, N.C.; four grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Costello of Wellsville, Kristy (Robert) Sherman of Brockport, Deanna (Tim) Hand of Angelica and Christopher (Erin) Graham of Belmont; 10 great-grandchildren Emily, Cody and Quincy Costello, Myles, Ty, and Allie Sherman, Gavin and Cassidy Hand, and Gracyn and Hadleigh Graham; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Palmer Peaslee of Allentown; and several nieces and nephews. The family will be present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday (March 3, 2015) at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Middleton officiating. Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica . To send a remembrance visit www.brownandpowersfuneralhomes.com.
