ELDRED, Pa. - Arline E. Cook, 95, formerly of Barnum Road, passed away Wednesday (April 23, 2014) at the Sena Kean Manor following a long illness.
Born Aug. 7, 1917, in Hamburg, N.Y., she was a daughter of Fred and Catherine Smith Baker. On Jan. 22, 1955, in Olean, she married Ernest F. Cook, who passed away Jan. 15, 1991.
Arline was a graduate of Hamburg (N.Y.) Area Schools. She resided on Barnum Road for many years before moving to Sena Kean Manor in 2006. She spent her life as a Homemaker. Arline was a past member of the Eldred United Methodist Church, a past member of the Eldred Grange # 53, a past member of the Lady Rebecca Lodge # 526, a lifetime member of the Eldred Township Fire Department Auxiliary and a past Cub Scout and Brownie Leader in Eldred. During World War II she was employed by the National Munitions Co. of Eldred, and later was very active with the Eldred World War II Museum. For many years, she, along with her husband, operated Ernie's Pizza and Pies at the McKean County Fair.
Surviving are a son, Nathan (Debora) Cook of Lewis Run, Pa.; a daughter, Cherie Oddo of Batavia, N.Y.; as well as seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Winnie Gulnac.
Friends may call Saturday (April 26, 2014) at the Frame Funeral home in Eldred from noon to 2 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Eldred World War II Museum.
