Armin J. Sauter

OLEAN - Armin J. Sauter, of 1667 Haskell Road, passed away Monday (Oct. 1, 2012) at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo from injuries suffered in a car accident at home.
Born March 23, 1927, in Zurich, Switzerland, he was a son of the late Armin and Elizabeth Mockli Sauter. He married the former Joan A. Bruno, who survives.
He was a graduate of Winthur University in Switzerland with a degree in electrical engineering. He had been a resident of Olean since 1962 and worked at Dresser Industries for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the University Chapel at St. Bonaventure University. He was also active with the Rehabilitation Center for many years, serving as a member and a former president of the board of directors.
Armin was also active with the Special Olympics. In his younger years, he enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing and making and collecting model trains. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Joan; a daughter, Jennifer Sauter of Gap, Pa.; and a son, Andrew Sauter of Olean; and nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Lanter, in 2010; and a brother-in-law, Albert Lanter, in 1997.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday (Oct. 6, 2012) at 10 a.m. in the University Chapel at St. Bonaventure University. Father Francis Dispiguo, OFM, will be celebrant.
