HOUGHTON - Betty Marie Champlin, formerly of 731 Hoop St., passed away Wednesday (July 16, 2014) at Absolut of Houghton after a long illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1925, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Merwin and Madeline Pachla Geise. On Feb. 12, 1944, in Olean, she married Lawrence Champlin, who passed away in 1990.
Betty attended Olean High School. She enjoyed reading, movies, word searches and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Joseph (Nancy) Champlin of Olean, Kathleen (Larry) Layman of Cuba, Larry (Lorraine) Champlin of Horseheads, and Gail (Jim) Everitt of West Chester, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Jennifer Hendrickson of Cuba, who assisted with her care; two sisters, Dorothy (Edgell) Kalbaugh of Kent, Ohio, and Bernice (Jim) Clark of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday (July 19, 2014), at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Dr. Daniel McDowell, pastor of First Baptist Church, Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Veteran's Circle at Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
