OLEAN - Mrs. Bina B. Isaman, 97, of 307 Gilmore Ave., passed away Friday (March 1, 2013) at her home.
Bina was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Hinsdale and was a daughter of Cortland "Frances" and Amy Thayer. On Jan. 7, 1931, in Maplehurst, she married her loving husband of 62 years, William G. Isaman, who predeceased her March 2, 1993.
Bina attended a one-room schoolhouse. She worked at the ammunition plant in Eldred, Pa., during World War II. She also worked as a supervisor at HI-Q and then at Olean Tilt for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980. Bina was the oldest member of Mt. Zion Christian Assembly. She enjoyed writing poetry - some of which was published - playing Nintendo, baking, knitting and listening to and playing music.
Surviving Bina are four sons, William Isaman of Eldred, Ronald Isaman of Salamanca, Keith Isaman of Texas and Paul "Ed" Isaman of Portville; three daughters, Etta Firkle of Bolivar and Donna Mallery of Bradford, Pa., and Suzanne Isaman of Olean; 146-plus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; a sister, Dora Lindermuth of Orchard Park; and many nieces and nephews.
Bina was pre-deceased by two daughters, Kathryn Blackmon and June Maine; and four siblings.
Friends will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 5, 2013) at 1 p.m. in Mt. Zion Christian Assembly.
