OTTO - Charles W. Evans, 75, a retired truck driver for Path Truck Lines, where he worked for 17 years, died Thursday (March 13, 2014) at Absolute of Salamanca.
Born April 5, 1938, in Buffalo, he was a son of the late Charles J. and Edith F. (Perkins) Evans.
Charles attended Cattaraugus High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a broker for Ashland Oil Company for more than seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Carnes) Evans, of Otto, whom he married on Aug. 22, 1952, in St. John's United Church of Christ of Cattaraugus; two sons, Edward L. Evans, of Cattaraugus, and Neal R. (Peggy) Evans, of Great Valley; a daughter, Antoinette M. Thompson, of Otto; his grandchildren, Krystal D. Thompson, of Otto, Sean M. Evans of Salamanca; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Evans, of Otto.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Evans; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Moyer, and Maureen Anglle.
Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 55 S. Main St., Cattaraugus, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (March 16, 2014). Funeral services will be held Monday (March 17, 2014) at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Ellicott Street, Cattaraugus. The Rev. Harland West of St. John's United Church of Christ and W. Mike Trenchard, pastor, will officiate.
