Henry D. "Buddy" Miles(1954-2012)

BELMONT - Henry D. "Buddy" Miles, 58, of 17 Martin St., died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2012) at the home of his daughter, with whom he resided, following a long illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1954, in Cuba, he was a son of the late Henry G. and Myrtle Claire Miles. He had been married to the former Robin Cummins.
Buddy resided most of his life in Belmont, then later in Cuba. He grew up in Friendship and attended Friendship Central School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1973 to 1975. After returning home from the Navy, he worked at Miller and Brandes in Friendship for a short time in the garage, then for a few years was employed at Farnsworth Cookies in Cuba. Later, he was employed at Housing Action in Belmont. He then worked for L.C. Whitford Co. Inc., followed by working many years at the Cuba Lake Marina.
Buddy enjoyed carpentry work, painting and woodworking, at which he was very talented. He enjoyed listening to classic rock music and watching NASCAR racing, rooting for the late Dale Earnhart and Dale Earnhart Jr. He enjoyed working on cars with his late Uncle Paul. He also loved the water and working on boats at the Cuba Lake Marina. He rebuilt his own pontoon boat, in which he took much pride and on which enjoyed spending time, even it was just sitting docked at Carpie's Bar and Grill or taking a "Jungle Cruise." Most of all, he loved his family and friends and being around them.
He coached T-ball one summer in Belmont for the Athletics. He also was a member of the VFW in Cuba.
Surviving are a daughter, Carina M. Miles of Belmont; a brother, Bruce L. Miles of Nile; three sisters, Roberta A. Hamilton of Nile, Barbara J. (William) Davidson of Friendship and Bonnette M. Bliss of Nile; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother and father; and two brothers, Wilson P. Miles and Barry J. Miles.
The family gives a special thanks to Don Cole and Adrian Watson and his family for all their help and being there in a time of need. The family also thanks the Veterans Administration, Southern Tier Home Health and HomeCare & Hospice.
