Howard E. Guinnip(1920-2013)

ANGELICA - Howard E. Guinnip, 92, of 40 Center St., passed away peacefully Monday (Jan. 28, 2013) at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born in Bradford, Pa., Oct. 9, 1920, the son of Erwin and Ethel Champlin Guinnip, he graduated from Smethport High School. After graduation, Howard joined the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Howard had worked for the former Wolcott Funeral Home and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years. He was past Master for the Masonic Lodge #818, past patron of the Angelica OES #231, a 68-year member of the American Legion Post 414 of Angelica, past president of the Angelica School Board and a member of the Angelica Hose Co.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Sullivan Guinnip, whom he married June 29, 1947; two sons, Dana (Betty) Guinnip of Angelica and Brian Guinnip of Angelica; a granddaughter, Heather (Thomas) Goodwin of Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Makayla Goodwin; and his niece, Loetta Elam of Rochester.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Basil Guinnip; and two sisters, Beatrice Glich and Leona McKinney.
The family will be present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (Feb. 1, 2013) with the Rev. David Ford officiating. Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
