NASHUA, N.H. - James A. Kuhn, 92, a resident of Nashua for the past 20 months, died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at the home of his daughter, Karen Kittle.
Born Nov. 18, 1919, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of the late Lawrence and Helen Kiley Kuhn.
Mr. Kuhn was the widower of Wilma ""Willie"" Bernard Kuhn of Olean. They were married May 24, 1947, and shared more than 61 years of marriage until her passing in April 2008.
Mr. Kuhn was a 1938 graduate of Olean High School, where he played football and was nicknamed ""Mighty Mite."" He later attended St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y.
Mr. Kuhn was a veteran, serving his country during World War II
, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army
Air Corps in 1945.
He started his career with Clark Bros. (later Dresser Clark) of Olean on Feb. 12, 1947. Eventually, his career led him to become manager of customer coordination for the Dresser–Rand division of Halliburton. Following his retirement in 1983, he continued with the company as a consultant for several years.
Mr. Kuhn loved gardening, keeping busy and working on home improvement projects. He was still mowing his lawn and shoveling snow when he was 90.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. John's Church in Olean.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Richard Kittle of Nashua; a son, Thomas James Kuhn of North Greenbush; and his grandchildren, Erin Leigh Kuhn of Lewiston, Molly Ann Kittle and her husband Chris Connolly of San Francisco and Andrew James Kittle of San Francisco. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Gattiglio of Bridgewater, Mass., and Margaret McAvoy of Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frankie and John Kuhn.
There will be visiting hours for family and friends at St. John's Church at 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 29, 2012) followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery after the Mass, and a luncheon will be served at noon.
