OLEAN - John P. Perkins, of River Street, formerly of West Clarksville, passed away Wednesday (April 9, 2014) at Olean General Hospital.
Born on June 17, 1945, in West Clarksville, he was the son of the late Gaylord and Velma Dudley Perkins. He married the former Beverly Niles, who predeceased him, and later married the former Priscilla Middaugh, who also predeceased him.
He was a graduate of Richburg High School. In his younger years he worked at Cuba Cookie Factory. Later, he was employed at various places, including ACME Electric in Cuba; Paul Brown Motors, where he worked as a mechanic; and finally in the oil fields in Allegany.
He was a life member of the West Clarksville Fire Department and a past fire commissioner.
Surviving are a son, David (Penny) Perkins of Olean; a daughter, Paula Barber of West Clarksville; and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wives; two sons, Paul and Timothy M. Perkins; and a grandson, Dustin Barber.
Family will receive friends Saturday (April 12, 2014) at the West Clarksville Baptist Church from noon to 1 p.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Les Chambers will officiate. Burial will be in West Clarksville Cemetery.
