SALAMANCA - Margaret Abrams, 79, of Broad Street, died Saturday (March 15, 2014), at home.
Born Jan. 9, 1935, in Jamestown, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Fidelia Jimerson Sr. She was married in June of 1953, to the late Cornelius Abrams Jr.
She was employed as a dietitian at the Salamanca Nursing Home, The Bradford Manor, and retired from The Bradford Regional Medical Center. She also was elected as judge at the Peacemakers Court for the Seneca Nation of Indians. Mrs. Abrams was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Turtle Clan, and Coldspring Longhouse.
Surviving are a daughter, Darlys Schafer of Jimersontown; a granddaughter, Leah Shumack; a great-granddaughter, Caterina Huff, both of Salamanca; a brother, Avery Jimerson Jr., Jimersontown; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Shumack; and a granddaughter, Jessica Shumack.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Monday, March 17, 2014, at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 9 a.m. Tuesday (March 18, 2014), followed by services at the Coldspring Longhouse at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Hillside Heaven Cemetery.
