BATAVIA - Martha E. Miller of 637 E. Main St., and a former Bolivar resident passed away Friday (Nov. 29, 2013), in the Genesee Co. Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1925, in Wirt, she was the daughter of Leonard & Susan Hall Hackett. She married Francis I. Miller on Sept. 22, 1989, in Batavia. Mr. Miller preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1989.
Martha was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church Batavia. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting.
Surviving are four sons, Paul Tarr of Rapidan, Va., Lawrence (Linda) Benjamin of Friendship, David Benjamin Sr. of Florida and Bruce Benjamin of Bolivar; four daughters, Joyce Shutt of Bliss, Vironica Champlin of Olean, Mary Benjamin of Olean, Christine (Floyd) Roberts of Byron; 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Johnson of Smethport Pa., Phyllis Burch of Yorkshire; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four grandchildren, Brian Shutt, Gary Elliott, Lawrence Benjamin Jr. and Mary Champlin; three brothers, Kenneth Hackett, Clayton Hackett and Leonard Hackett Jr.; three sisters, Helen Torrence, Shirley Peterson and Susan Ionne.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2013), at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., Bolivar, at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Pastor Dale Gooch of the First Baptist Church of Akron officiating. Burial in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar.
