Michael J. Donovan(1948-2013)

THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Michael J. Donovan went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday (April 3, 2013).
Mike was born in Hornell, N.Y., on Feb. 4, 1948. He was raised in Olean, N.Y., where he became a police officer with the Olean Police Department.
While there, he coached Little League baseball and was very involved with his family, friends and church. He loved golfing, playing games, the beach and having fun with family and friends.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and he earned a Purple Heart.
In 2003 he moved to The Villages. His passion in life was being an encouragement to others and he will be missed by many. He was a member of Village View Community Church and a member of the pastoral care team.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Carol; son, John Gorton of San Francisco, Calif.; daughters, Kelly Donovan of Denver, Colo., and Amy (Joel) Lincoln and four grandchildren, all from Naples, N.Y.; a brother, Francis (Colleen) Donavon of The Villages and Olean; and a sister, Birdie (John) McNalley of Lakewood, Colo.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Victoria Donavon.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (April 13) at Village View Community Church, 8585 SE 147th Place, Summerfield, Fla. A memorial service in Olean will be held at a later date.
