OLEAN - Monajean Gagliardo, of 1213 W. Sullivan St., passed away Sunday (Oct. 28, 2012) in Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Clearfield, Pa., she was a daughter of the late William and Minnie Parkett Lippart. On Nov. 8, 1947, in St. Mary of the Angels Church, she married Louis Gagliardo, who passed away Dec. 16, 2006.
Jean worked at AVX Corp. until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, Women of the Mood and the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1619 Ladies Auxiliary.
Jean loved everybody, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Saverio W. (Joyce) Gagliardo Jr. of Portville and Louis J. (Jean) Gagliardo of Olean; three daughters, Cynthia Ann Beard of Apopka, Fla., and Mary R. (George) Cowles and Kathy (Jeff) Bish, both of Olean; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Margeson of Erie, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four sisters, Priscilla, Mary Jane, Helen Louise and Sylvia; a brother, Clayton; and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. A Scripture wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2012) at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
