Phyllis Griswold Tincher

HORNELL - Phyllis Griswold Tincher, 83, of 1190 County Route 66, passed away on Saturday (Feb. 9, 2013) at St. James Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 16, 1929, in the town of Ward, a daughter of Ellsworth and Gladys Cline Watson.
On Feb. 24, 1951, in Belmont, she married Frederick Griswold, and on Feb. 19, 1972, in Emporium, Pa., she married Conrad L. Tincher Jr., who predeceased her Sept. 13, 1999.
Phyllis was a 1947 graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School and was a former resident of Genesee, Pa. She was first employed as a telephone operator for New York Telephone in Wellsville. She later worked for North Main Lumber in Hornell and South Main Lumber in Wellsville.
She attended the Belmont First Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, sightseeing and yard sales.
She is survived by a son, Frederick (Teresa) Griswold of Hornell; a stepson, Conrad L. Tincher III of Olean; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Dineen, Brent Tincher and Kelly Tincher; two sisters, Ruth Watson of Olean and Shirley Morey of Hornell; two brothers, Lawrence (Bernice) Watson Sr. and Paul Watson, both of Belmont; a sister-in-law, Joan Watson of Belmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Esther Watson and Virginia Tillman; two brothers, James and Raymond Watson; and three sisters-in-law, Doritha, Joyce and Dorine Watson.
Friends are invited to call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bender, Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell and Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., 17 Schuyler Street, Belmont. The funeral will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Friday (Feb. 15, 2013) in the funeral home, with Pastor Byron Brooks presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont.
