FRANKLINVILLE - Robert M. VanDerlaske, of Chestnut St., died Tuesday (Sept. 10, 2013) at his home following a battle with cancer.
Born Dec. 24, 1954, in Mineola, he was the son of George and Agnes Jensen VanDerlaske. On Sept. 16, 1978, in Olean, he married Diane Crean who survives.
Mr. VanDerlaske received a bachelor's of science degree from SUNY Fredonia and was employed by Mulligan Inc. of Holland. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed making his own wine.
Surviving besides his wife of Franklinville are two sons, Brian (Kelly) VanDerlaske of Raleigh, N.C., and Stephan (Jessica) VanDerlaske of Arcade; two daughters Jennifer (Mike Slater) VanDerlaske of Shinglehouse, Pa., and Samantha VanDerlaske of Franklinville; four grandchildren, Lilly, Desiree, Travis and Abe; two brothers, Ken VanDerlaske of Florida and Jim VanDerlaske of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and George VanDerlaske; and a sister, Shirley VanDerlaske.
Friends may gather with the family from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 13, 2013) at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, where his scripture service will be held at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Marino, of St. Philomena's Roman Catholic Church of Franklinville, as celebrant.
