CANAL FULTON, Ohio - Waneta Rogers, 95, formerly of Bolivar, died on Thursday (Feb. 28, 2013).
She was born Sept. 13, 1917, in Kahlotus, Wash., to Harry and Harriette Scheunemann Graves. She attended Friendship High Shool and Buffalo City Hospital of Nursing.
She was a staff nurse at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
She married Karl Rogers on July 28, 1940, and lived in Scio until the time of his retirement and death in 1987.
She is survived by four children, the Rev. Dr. Jeanette (Dr. Munro) Sherrill of Bradenton, Fla., Karol (Robert) Akins of Banner Elk, N.C., William (Lynda) of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Jack (Dr. Nicholette) of Canal Fulton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Sherrill, Christine Rogers Raetsch, and Kate and Seth Rogers; and four great-grandchildren, Jamie and Ben Combs, and Gianlucas and Isabella Sherrill. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Smith of Olean.
Waneta was skilled in many handwork crafts, including needlepoint, knitting and sewing, which she continued until shortly before her death.
She was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Friendship at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church in Scio.
