ARCADE - Wayne E. Bigelow, 65, of 209 Main St., passed away Saturday (Nov. 2, 2013) at Buffalo Veterans Hospital, Buffalo.
He was born Nov. 25, 1947, in Pembroke, Ontario, a son of Clarence C. Bigelow and Catherine McQuaid Bigelow. He was married to Elsie Rankin Bigelow of Sandusky, who survives.
Mr. Bigelow was a 1967 graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School in Olean. He was a "boots on the ground" U.S. Army
veteran, serving from 1968 to 1970 in Vietnam. He was a life member of Local 17 in Buffalo, serving 40 years as an operating engineer.
Mr. Bigelow was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars
in Arcade and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the former Blessed Sacrament Church in Delevan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jennifer (Scott) Wojtaszczyk of Sandusky and Emily (Timothy) Webster of Brookings, S.D.; a brother, James (Ann) Bigelow of Conewango Valley; two sisters, Mary Overington of Denver and Karen (David) Grossman of Denver; three grandchildren, Kendra Wojtaszczyk, Liam Webster and Ryan Wojtaszczyk; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Bigelow and Ralph Bigelow; and a grandson, Travis Scott Wojtaszczyk.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 W. Main St., Arcade. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 7, 2013) at St. Mary's in Arcade with the Rev. Joseph Gullo officiating. Burial will be in Sandusky Cemetery.
