Fay Walter Scott (1926 - 2013)

BOLIVAR - Fay Walter Scott, of Little Genesee, passed away on Thursday (Oct. 24, 2013) at age 87.

Fay was born on Feb. 10, 1926, in Friendship, the son of Floyd and Marie Scott. On June 27, 1952, Fay marries Lois Wilson Scott, who predeceased him a month ago. They lived in the same house in Little Genesee for 55 years.

During World War II, Fay served in the Navy on a minesweeper and was honorably discharged Jan. 3, 1946. He graduated from the Westbrook Academy in Olean and later graduated from Lewis Hotel Training School in Washington, D.C. In 1957, he joined the New York State Police and retired in 1979 with the rank of zone sergeant.

Fay was an avid hunter and fisherman and a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and the University of Illinois. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a member of the Bolivar and Friendship American Legion for 52 years.

Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Scott, Ogden, Ill.; three grandchildren, Macey Scott of Catlin, Ill., Nichole Scott of Deltona, Fla., and Jason Scott of Debary, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Ross Riggs III and Jordyn Riggs of Deltona, and Evan and Noah Scott of Debary; two brothers, Lawrence Scott of Arcade, Russell Scott of Rushford and Carmen Stephens of Wellsville.

There is no visitation. A memorial service and burial will be held in Danville, Ill., near the home of his son. In the honor of Fay's love for his dogs, Doc, Bobo and Babe; and his grand-dogs, Blade Buckley and Boomer, memorials may be made in his name to the Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61802.
