HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Nancy J. Haley, 70, of Hopewell Township and formerly of Salamanca, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on Thursday (March 7, 2013) following a short illness.
She was born on June 17, 1942, in Salamanca, N.Y., a daughter of the late Donald D. and Ida Rose Folts DeGroat.
Mrs. Haley was a Cattaraugus County (N.Y.) employee for more than 20 years. She was previously employed at Corning Glass Works, Bradford.
Nancy was a kind-hearted person and an active member of Prince of Peace Anglican Church. She enjoyed volunteering for bake sales to support the church. At age 70, she regularly worked out at Curves in Hopewell.
She was a devoted caregiver to her family members. She loved and supported her grandchildren by watching gymnastics, dance recitals and volleyball tournaments. Her other interests included baking, crocheting and reading.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her two daughters, Tamara (Michael) Thompson of South Carolina and Karen (Dr. Richard) Bell of Moon Township; four granddaughters, Rachel, Hannah and Rebecca Thompson, and Catherine Bell; four stepgrandchildren, Patrick (Andrea) Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Jason (Jessica) Wrona and Jacquelyn (David) Golden; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan and Ashleigh Thompson, and Lily Golden and Timothy Wrona. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Anita Grandinetti.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John DeGroat; and a sister, Donna Vigliotti.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Moon Township, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, where a funeral service will be held on Monday (March 11, 2013) at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place at Green Cemetery, Great Valley, N.Y.
