WELLSVILLE - Richard C. "Rick" Mason, 81, of Wellsville, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 16, 2013) at the Hart Comfort House following a three-year battle with cancer.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1931, the son of Frank and Laura Burelson Mason. On Nov. 10, 1956, he was married to June Arlene Cline, who survives him.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1949 to 1952 as a staff sergeant.
As a lifelong resident of Wellsville, he was a graduate of Wellsville High School. He retired from the Dresser-Rand Corp. of Wellsville in 1995 after 30 years of service.
He was a past commander of the Morrison-Hayes American Legion Post 702, a life member and past governor of the Moose Lodge 601 and a life member of the PBOE Lodge 1495, all of Wellsville.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, June, and children, Gail (David) Aiken of Henrietta and Robert Mason of Chicago, Ill.
Other survivors include two brothers, Kenneth "Bud" and Jack (Ruth) Mason of Wellsville; special niece, Dawn (John) Riley of Wellsville; his four beautiful grandchildren, Kristen, Emily, Patrick and Amy Aiken of Henrietta; and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marie "Tillie" (James) Richardson, in 2012.
Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Saturday (Jan. 19, 2013) from 1 to 3 p.m., when full military rites will be rendered by members of the Wellsville American Legion Post and funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Ralph Eastlack, will be held. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the David A. Howe Public Library or the Hart Comfort House.
