CANISTEO - Susanne M. "Sally" Stuckey, 74, of Route 36, passed away Tuesday (March 4, 2014) at St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell, following a brief illness.

Born on Sept. 10, 1939, in Olean, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Barr McKenney. In 1977, in Canisteo, she married Isaac T. "Ike" Stuckey, who predeceased her in 1983.
Sally was a graduate of Allegany Academy. For more than 30 years she was employed with area Catholic churches as a secretary, bookkeeper and receptionist for both the former St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Canisteo; and Our Lady of the Valley Church, Hornell, from which she retired in 2009.
She was very active in area youth sports throughout her life and was the first president of the Canisteo Youth Football Organization, which was formed in 1972. She was a member of both the Canisteo American Legion and Hornell VFW women's auxiliaries.
Sally enjoyed sports at every level and was a big fan of professional football and the San Francisco 49ers. She was an avid fan of John Wayne films and very much enjoyed her bingo nights out.
Sally is survived by four sons, John Dietrich of Alfred, William (Sheryl) Dietrich of Cape Corral, Fla., Thomas Dietrich of Gilbert, Ariz., and Donald Dietrich of Canisteo; three wonderful granddaughters, Amanda (Ryan) Welch, Danee Dietrich and Catherine Dietrich; a step-grandson, Joseph Mancini; a great-grandson, Michael Robert Welch; two stepchildren, Jeffrey Stuckey and Linda Jenkins, both of Hornell; two sisters, Jean (John) Washington of Olean and Nancy VanCourt of Glendale, Ariz.; as well as several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Robert Dietrich, in April 2012; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Dietrich; a sister, Betty McKenney; three brothers, John, Daniel and William McKenney; and two stepsons, Dennis and Thomas Stuckey.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, with evening prayers at 8 p.m., at the H.P. Smith and Son Inc. Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Canisteo. A Mass and Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday (March 8, 2014) in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hornell. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
