FRANKLINVILLE - Virginia N. Slocum of Franklin Street died Tuesday (May 14, 2013) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean.

Born Aug. 23, 1930, in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Lindzey Hennard and Mabel Tidd. On July 7, 1948, in Belmont, she married Robert L. Slocum, who died in 1984.
Mrs. Slocum was employed by Motorola Inc. of Arcade for many years. She attended the Calvary Community Church in Delevan and enjoyed bingo, gardening and volunteering. She was a lifetime member of the Franklinville Central School PTO.
Surviving are five daughters, Deborah Keech and Shirley (Howard) Chase, both of Franklinville, Elizabeth Dash of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Sandy (Larry) Kruppner and Sara Slocum, both of Olean; a son, David (Sherri) Slocum of Wellsville; 23 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She also had nine siblings, Raymond, Eugene, Edward, Donald, Daniel, James, Cortney Hennard, Carol Carmer and June Pope; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather with the family Monday (May 20, 2013) at the Calvary Community Chapel on Route 16 in Delevan from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time her funeral service will be held. The Rev. Timothy Chase will officiate. Burial will take place in Short Tract Cemetery in the town of Granger.
