OLEAN - Alberta C. Palmquist, of 201 Genesee St., passed away Wednesday (June 12, 2013) at her home following a long illness.

Born Dec. 13, 1930, in Joplin, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Albert E. and Martha A. Simpson Turton Celink. On Dec. 22, 1950, in Kansas, she married Stephen Y. Palmquist, who passed away May 12, 2013.
She was a graduate of Joplin Senior High, Class of 1948. After high school, she later attended Dickens Business College in Kansas City, Mo., and St. Bonaventure University for accounting.
A resident of Olean for more than 50 years, she worked at Palmquist Jewelers with her husband for many years, and then for Bell Telephone until her retirement.
She was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are three sons, Neal (Mirium) Palmquist of Duncanville, Texas, Carl (Ruth) Palmquist of Olean and Glen Palmquist of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and a sister, Margaret Turton of Burmingham, Ala.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brother, Robert Turton.
At Alberta's request, there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Olean.
