THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Catherine A. Spino, formerly of Olean, N.Y., passed away Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2018) at the Plaza Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Gainesville.

Born Nov. 9, 1946, in Olean, she was the daughter of Michael and Frances Jean Brink Washington. On June 26, 1971, in Olean, she married Joseph Spino, who predeceased her.

Cathy worked for Verizon Communications, and its predecessors, for over 30 years, starting as an operator in Olean, and retiring as a supervisor, in the business office, in Buffalo, N.Y.

She was an avid golfer, golfing three to four times a week all year round. She was also a member of the Parrot Head Club; a social organization whose members raise money to provide charitable and humanitarian assistance to the communities in which they live.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Spino of Williamsville, N.Y. and Brandon Spino of Las Vegas, Nev.; a granddaughter, Genesea; and three brothers, Michael Washington, Daniel Washington and Matthew Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc. 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2018) at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
