OLEAN - Charles R. "Doc" Fadale, 77, of 2059 Union Valley Road, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2012) at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Doc was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Lackawanna, a son of Charles and Margaret Barraducci Fadale. On Dec. 27, 1964, in Amherst, he married his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Frank, who survives.
Doc was a 1954 graduate of Ellicottville Central School. He served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 31, 1955, to Sept. 6, 1958.
Doc had been self-employed since 1963 in business, including auto sales and as a gun dealer. In 1999 in Cuba, he started his own hair salon, Doc's Classic Cuts, which he ran until his retirement in May 2012. Doc also ran the women's fitness center, Body Perfect, in Cuba.
Doc enjoyed football, was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his loving wife, Mary Ann, Doc is survived by three children, Russell J. Fadale of Olean, Gina M. Legere of Olean and Andrew C. (Morgan) Fadale of Hinsdale; four grandchildren, Bryan M. Legere of St. Bonaventure University, SN Sarah G. Legere, U.S. Navy, Palatine, Ill., Kyle R. Legere and Alex G. Woodward; a brother, Donald E. Fadale of Olean; and many cousins.
Friends may call the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State St., Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday (Dec. 31, 2012) from 10-11 a.m., at which time funeral and committal services and full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbell Post 892 Ritual Team will begin. The Rev. Larry A. Poelma Pastor of the Cuba First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Ellicottville.
