OLEAN - Debra A. "Debbie" Clayson, of 1103 1/2 Washington St., passed away unexpectedly Sunday (Feb. 17, 2013) at Olean General Hospital.
Born Aug. 19, 1957, in Olean, she was the daughter of Donald and Carol Nudd Clayson.
Debbie was a graduate of Olean High School and Olean Business Institute, and she received her associate degree from Jamestown Community College.
She was first employed as a secretary at Manufacturers Hanover in Olean. She went on to work for the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services, retiring in 2012.
She was a member of several Olean camera clubs and various bowling leagues, and she attended the Christian Science Church. Debbie enjoyed photography, live concerts, knitting, reading, Easter egg hunts and ceramics. She loved anything Disney, her cats and volunteering for the SPCA and Toys for Tots.
Surviving are her parents, of Olean; one brother, Brian (Tracie) Clayson of Olean; her longtime loving companion, Al Hartwig; one niece, Zoey Clayson; one nephew, Zachary Clayson; one aunt, June Lowe; two uncles, including a special uncle, Daniel (Nadene) Nudd, and Russell Burton; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents; two aunts, Rosie Burton and Shirley Clayson; two uncles, Joseph Lowe and Doug Clayson; and two cousins, Arlene Clayson and Sheila Clayson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (Feb. 22, 2013) at the funeral Home. The Rev. Brad Chesebro, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany.
