BOLIVAR - Francis J. Stedman, 65, of 75 Wellsville St., passed away Friday (Dec. 7, 2018) at home, following a brief illness.

Born Nov. 18, 1953, in Hornell, he was the son of Ken and Mary Pacaro Stedman.

Fran was a graduate of the Bolivar Central School, Class of 1973.

Along with his father, he operated the Bolivar Hotel from 1973 to 2014. From 2014 until his retirement in October, 2018, he was employed by the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca.

Fran was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bolivar. He was an avid antique collector, and he also did fundraising for area SPCAs and the .

Surviving are two sisters, Mary (Roy) Scott of Wellsville and Kathy Stedman of Jamestown; one niece, Mary Jane Depew of Jamestown; two nephews, Bill (Wendy) Scott of Wellsville and Charles Scott of Honeoye Falls; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Stedman.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday (Dec. 14, 2018) at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., Bolivar. Funeral services will be held beginning with a prayer service from the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 15, 2018), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Bolivar. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Hornell.
