BELFAST - Frederick L. Harris, 76, of 104 S. Main St. passed away Monday (Dec. 24, 2012) at Kane (Pa.) Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born May 22, 1938, in Niagara Falls, he was a son of Frederick and Josephine Penque Harris. He was married to the former Carolyn L. King, who died Sept. 28, 2002. On Aug. 23, 2003, in Corona, Calif., he married the former Claudine Johnson, who survives.
Fred grew up in Belfast until he was 9 years old and then moved to Compton, Calif., where he graduated from high school in 1956. Later, he attended college for two years. For several years he was a machine foreman at Westech Co., and for many years he was a security guard for various firms, including Mattel Corp. in California.
He raised several foster children in California, returning to the Belfast area in 2008.
Fred's hobbies included auto detailing and body work, traveling and watching TV.
He had been a member of the Pentecostal Church and had sung in a quartet in various places in California.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Claudine, are five sons, Elmer Harris of Angelica, Elliott (Carrie) Harris of Gatesville, Texas, Jonathan (Daisy) Harris of Edenburg, Texas, James Harris of Rialto, Calif. and Allen Harris of Angelica; three daughters, Karole Ellison of Grants Pass, Ore., Deborah Harris of Sacramento, Calif., and Danielle F. Harris of Angelica; seven grandchildren; a sister, June Oriana of Swain; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, George Harris.
As per Fred's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast.
