IRONDEQUOIT - Jean Johnston Babcock passed away Saturday ( March 24, 2012) in Madison, Wis., at the age of 92.
She was born in Richburg, a daughter of the late Berdena Voorhees and James Samuel Johnston. She attended SUNY Geneseo, taught third grade for many years at English Village and Paddy Hill schools in Greece, N.Y., and was a longtime member of the Seneca United Methodist Church in Irondequoit. She enjoyed lunching with her Arethusa Sisters and walking with her dog.
She was the beloved wife of the late Vernon F. Babcock and loving mother of Bruce (Janet Olson) Babcock, Margy (Marty) Watson, Jon Babcock and Jim Babcock. She was the doting grandmother of Brian (Jennifer), Kevin, Douglas, Betsy (Gene Kelly), Julie, Grant and Ed; and great-grandmother of Joey, Katy and Noah.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (April 28, 2012) at the Seneca United Methodist Church, 121 Scholfield Road, Rochester, NY 14617. Interment will be at the Avon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca United Methodist Church, or to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450. Arrangements are under the direction of Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., Avon.
