Recently he became a member of the Allegany American Legion Post 892.

His family was a priority with him and he treasured the company of his wife, children and grandchildren. He lovingly referred to his son John's wife, Miranda, as his "favorite daughter-in-law."

In addition to his wife Paula, he is survived by five sons, John L. (Miranda) Miller II, Joshua L. Miller and Jessy L. Miller, all of Medina, Shane A. Miller of Olean and Aaron R. (Ashley) Robertson of Biloxi, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Midge (Tim) Works of Warren, Pa. and Barbie (Nate) Starling of Apopka, Fla.; one brother, Walt E. Miller of Sanford, Fla.; three step-siblings, Frank McAdoo, Brenda McAdoo and Charlotte McAdoo; and many nieces and nephews.
