OLEAN - Jon P. Russell, of Olean, passed away Monday (April 16, 2018) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo.

Born April 5, 1940, in Olean, he was the son of W. Clarke and Catherine M. Kasper Russell.

Jon's family owned a dairy farm in Allegany named Russell's Maples, where he enjoyed growing up and helping raise the animals, as well as hunting and fishing.

He attended Allegany High School and was active with the 4-H club.

After the farm sold in 1976, Jon went to work for the Cattaraugus County Highway Department for five years. He then worked for the former St. Francis Hospital in the dietary department.

He loved the Lord, and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Olean, having been recently baptized in the name of Jesus at the Olean YMCA pool.

He enjoyed family gatherings, especially at Christmas, and was always quick to make people laugh. He was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Recently he had been attending Total Senior Care where he enjoyed the friendships and activities. Jon laughed often and loved his family immensely.

(Renee) Russell III, Curtis (Toni) Russell, Christopher (Tammy) Russell, Michael (Cassidy) Nicholas and David (Christina) Forness; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Kay Mattern of Olean; and a significant other, Dorothy Bliss of Olean.
