PORTVILLE - Linda L. Giberson of 983 Smith Road (Steam Valley), Portville, passed away Wednesday (July 17, 2013) at her home surrounded by her family.
Born Dec. 23, 1939, in Weston's Mills, she was the daughter of the late Orlando John and Beatrice Linn Scott. On June 13, 1959, in Olean, she married Robert A. "Skip" Giberson, who passed away Aug. 10, 1976.
Linda was a graduate of Portville Central School, Class of 1957. She worked for Prudential Insurance until 1961 and later for Rick Bokman Inc. from 1987 until 2008 as a title clerk and office manager, retiring due to her illness. She was a longtime active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Portville, for 65 years, member of the Bethel Shawlers, the church choir and was a former superintendent.
Surviving are her children, Jon (Amy) Giberson and Rick (Nannette) Giberson, both of Portville, Tim (Peggy) Giberson of Pendleton and Amy (John) Rowe of Rochester; 10 grandchildren, Heidi (Kyle Doyle) Giberson, Laura Giberson, Adam Giberson, Skip Giberson, Kristen Giberson, Troy Giberson, Scott Giberson, Curtis Rowe, Courtney Rowe and Catrina Rowe; brothers, Dave (Mary) Scott of Schnecksville, Pa., and Ted (Linda) Scott of Portville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and special friend, Kay Linn.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (July 20, 2013) in the Bethel Lutheran Church, 79 Brooklyn St., Portville. Pastor Ivy Gauvin will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
