BELFAST - Lynn C. Barber, of 7270 Tibbetts Hill Road, died Sunday (Nov. 18, 2012) at Cuba Palliative Care following a lengthy illness.

Born June 7, 1916, in the town of New Hudson, he was a son of Elbert J. and Verna Austin Barber. On June 6, 1943, in Black Creek, he married the former Aletha J. Prentice, who died March 14, 2009.
Mr. Barber had resided most of his life in the Belfast area. He attended Rural District School No. 12 in the town of New Hudson. For a short time, he worked the family farm in the town of Cuba and later for various dairy farmers in the area. For 18 years, he was a heavy-equipment operator for the town of New Hudson, followed by eight years in the same position for the town of Belfast, retiring in 1979.
He was an avid hunter and loved his family and traveling.
He attended the Black Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert L. (Bonnie) Barber of Belfast; a daughter, Lynnette E. Messena of Warsaw; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Alton Barber of Belfast; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol A. Cotton; five brothers, Lawrence Barber, Wayland Barber, Hugh Barber, Elbert Barber and Ralph Barber; and two sisters, Gladys Roat and Ruth Clark.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Belfast.
