PORTVILLE - Marian M. Anderson of 525 Linwood Drive passed away Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) at her home after a long illness.
Born Nov. 17, 1947, in Olean, she was a daughter of Stanley I. and Mary Pancio Piechota. On Sept. 30, 1972, in Dilworth, Minn., she married David E. Anderson, who survives.
Mrs. Anderson attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Olean and was a 1965 graduate of Olean High School. She then received her LPN degree from the former St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. She completed her course of study for a RN degree from Morrisville State College near Syracuse, after which she took her State Board examination in Bismarck, N.D.
While living in Moorhead, Minn., she began employment at nearby St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, N.D. She and her husband returned to this area in 1974, where she worked for Olean General Hospital until 1976. She paused her career in nursing to raise her family.
She later continued her education at Daemen College in Buffalo, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She then worked at Olean General Hospital until her retirement.
She enjoyed family vacations and travel.
Surviving besides her husband are three children, Annette Anderson of Cuba, Philip Anderson of Salisbury, Md., and Eric Anderson of Cleveland, Ohio; a grandson, Isaac Anderson; two brothers Ronald (Michelle) Piechota of Schenectady and Robert (Sue) Piechota of Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 16, 2014). Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday (Feb. 17, 2014) at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Beatty, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
