PORTVILLE - Nathan S. Weir, of Deer Creek Road, passed away Saturday (Feb. 22, 2014), in the High Point Nursing Home, Buffalo, after a brief illness.

Born July 25, 1929, in Wellsville, he was a son of the late Leon and Mabel Thompson Weir. On March 23, 1957, in Bolivar, he married the former Lois J. Glase, who passed away Sept. 15, 2013.
He was a graduate of Friendship High School, and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Korea with the U.S. Army. He resided in Portville since 1969 and was formerly of Bolivar. Before the war, Nathan was employed at Friendship Dairies and later at Clair Manufacturing, Dresser Clark and Portville Central School Maintenance Department for 15 years until his retirement. He was a member of Bolivar Odd Fellows, the Friendship and Bolivar Senior Group and the 1941 HAG (Historical Air Group) of Geneseo.
Surviving are three daughters, June (Bud) Leach of St. Louis, Mo., Diane (Bernard) Jerozal of Buffalo and Susan (Robert) Myers of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Craig (Mary Ann) Weir of Charlottesville, Va.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Betty) Weir of Friendship and Roger Weir of West Virginia; and a sister, Velma Hills of Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife; a brother, Loren Weir; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Weir.
Family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc. 51 S. Main St., Portville, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (March 1, 2014). The Rev. Albert Batt will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
